REX statement on origin
Under the European Union's Generalised Scheme of Preferences, preferential origin is self-declared. An exporter registered in the REX database puts a statement on origin onto the commercial document instead of obtaining a certificate. Indonesian exporters have worked this way since 1 January 2021.

It stops securing an EU preference on 1 January 2027
Indonesia is removed from the GSP beneficiary list that day. A REX statement will no longer obtain a GSP rate on entry into the European Union, and what proves origin after that depends on which instrument is in force.
It belongs to one scheme
REX is the European Union's mechanism. Other destinations run their own origin forms under their own agreements, and a REX statement does nothing for a shipment going to them.
Questions buyers ask.
Is my supplier registered?
Ask for the registration number and check it. The European Commission runs a public lookup for REX numbers, and a statement made out by an unregistered exporter does not obtain the preference.
What should I ask suppliers now?
Whether they are following the changeover, and what they expect to issue after it. An exporter who has not heard that Indonesia leaves the scheme in January is one to watch more closely on everything else.
