Who we work with

Private label and white label.

Private label means the producer makes it and you own the brand, which also means you carry the regulatory responsibility in your own market. Indonesia is strong in coconut, essential oils, cosmetics and spice for this, and the compliance question is bigger than most first-time brand owners expect.

What you need that others do not.

You become the responsible party
In most markets the person whose name is on the product answers for it. The producer's Indonesian approvals do not transfer to you and do not cover your market.
A formulation you can document
Ingredient lists, allergens, origin claims and shelf life all have to be evidenced by you. A producer who cannot give you a full breakdown is a producer you cannot label.
Packaging is usually the constraint
Custom packaging is bought in the supplier's own lot sizes, which is what drives the minimum order far more than the product does.
Batch traceability from day one
A recall traces back through your brand. Lot coding that ties a retail unit to a production batch is not optional and it is often absent.
Consistency between batches
Your customer notices variation that a commodity buyer would not. Natural products vary, so the specification has to name the tolerance you can live with.

Where it goes wrong for you specifically.

  • Assuming the producer's certificates are yours

A BPOM registration lets a product be sold in Indonesia. Cosmetic notification in your own market, food registration, an appointed responsible person: those are yours to arrange and they are the most common gap in a first private label project.

  • The recipe changing quietly

A producer substituting an input to hold a price is a normal commercial act and a serious problem for a brand. Lock the specification, keep a retained sample, and test batches rather than the first one.

  • Sharing a line with somebody else's product

Allergen and cross-contamination questions belong to whoever's name is on the jar. Ask what else runs on the same equipment before you launch, not after a complaint.

Questions buyers ask.

What is the difference between private label and OEM?

In practice the terms overlap. Private label usually means the producer's existing formulation with your branding on it. Custom manufacturing means a formulation developed for you. The first is faster and cheaper, the second is yours and carries a higher minimum. Decide which you are asking for before you approach anybody.

Do I need my own registration?

In almost every market, yes, and it belongs to whoever places the product on the market. That is you. The producer's Indonesian approvals demonstrate that they can sell there, and they open nothing in your country.

Why is the minimum so high on custom packaging?

Because the packaging supplier sells in lots. A printed carton or a moulded bottle comes in a quantity somebody has to buy and store, and if your order is smaller than that lot, the rest sits in a warehouse. Using stock packaging on a first run is how most brands get started.

Can I visit the factory before committing?

You should, and if that is not practical then somebody should go for you. Private label ties your brand to a facility you do not control, and an audit of the line, the storage and what else runs there is the cheapest risk reduction available.
