Export document
Taiwan food registration
Taiwan requires food importers and, for several categories, foreign producers to be registered, and imports are inspected at the border under a risk-based plan. Registration is done before shipping rather than at arrival.
The essentials.
- Importer and producer registration
- Food importers register, and for several categories the foreign producer registers as well before goods may be imported.1
- Border inspection
- Consignments are subject to inspection under a risk-based plan, with testing where the product or origin warrants it.1
- Labelling in Chinese
- Consumer products carry labelling requirements in Chinese, settled before production.
- Category-specific rules
- Requirements differ considerably by product category, so establish the position for your exact goods.
Who asks for it.
Only these markets require it. Shipping the same goods anywhere else, the question does not arise.
What it does not cover.
Registration is not clearance
Being registered does not exempt a consignment from inspection. The two are separate steps.
It takes time
Producer registration is not immediate. Start it well before the first planned shipment.
Requirements change
Check the current position for your category rather than relying on a previous shipment.
Questions buyers ask.
Does my Indonesian producer need to register?
For several food categories yes, and it has to happen before shipment. Establish whether your product is in scope early.
Is inspection guaranteed?
Inspection is risk based rather than universal, so some consignments are examined and others are not. Being registered does not exempt you.
What language on the label?
Chinese, with the required particulars. Settle the artwork before production rather than relabelling at a warehouse.
Where this comes up.
Indonesian vannamei shrimp
How farmed vannamei is counted, processed and shipped, and why the paperwork differs from wild-caught seafood: no catch certificate, but residues.
Indonesian coffee
Arabica and robusta origins, wet-hulling, how the national standard grades a lot, packing, and the documents a buyer needs including EUDR.
Indonesian coconut water
A beverage, so processing and packaging decide everything. What aseptic filling changes, and where nata de coco comes from.
Indonesian pepper
Two named Indonesian origins, and the FAQ against ASTA distinction that decides what actually arrives in the bag. What a pepper contract has to name.
Indonesian dried seaweed
Indonesia farms the seaweed the carrageenan industry runs on. Which species does what, and why moisture and impurities decide the price.
Export documents, by category
Four categories, four different sets of paperwork and almost no overlap. Built from the reference pages, so it cannot fall behind what is published.
