Bamboo or hardwood flooring.
Bamboo flooring is an engineered product held together with adhesive. Hardwood flooring is timber. That difference drives everything: hardness, how it moves, what it emits and which legality documents apply.

Which to choose.
- You want hardness at a lower cost
- Strand woven bamboo, with the emission class specified.
- The look has to be timber
- Hardwood. Bamboo does not imitate grain and pretending otherwise disappoints customers.
- You sell into the EU or the US
- Either, and settle the emission certificate and the legality documents before ordering.
- The floor will be sanded over decades
- Solid hardwood, or check the wear layer on anything engineered.
Questions buyers ask.
Is bamboo more sustainable?
It grows far faster than hardwood, which is a real advantage, and it is processed with adhesive and shipped the same distance. Any claim you print has to cover the whole product rather than the plant.
Which is harder?
Strand woven bamboo usually outperforms most hardwoods on hardness tests. Laminated bamboo does not, and both are sold as bamboo flooring, so specify the construction.
Do both need legality documents?
Tropical hardwood certainly does for the EU and the US. Bamboo can sit differently under some regimes, so confirm the position for your market rather than assuming either way.
