Destination market
Importing from Indonesia to Argentina.
Argentina produces most temperate agricultural commodities itself, so Indonesian demand is narrow and specific. The voyage is long, plant and animal health sits with a national service, and Spanish labelling applies.
Tariff treatment.
Indonesian goods currently enter the European Union under the Generalised Scheme of Preferences, with origin self-declared by a registered exporter. Indonesia leaves that scheme on 1 January 2027 and the agreement meant to replace it is not in force yet. It applies the same way in every member state, so it is written out once: what changes on 1 January 2027 →
Who you deal with on arrival.
- SENASA for plant and animal health
- The national agri-food health and quality service handles plant and animal health, import requirements and establishment approval.1
- Narrow but real demand
- Argentina grows temperate crops at scale and none of the tropical ones, so coffee, cocoa, spices and coconut products are all imported.
- A long voyage
- Routings from Asia are long and frequently involve transhipment. Build the schedule around that rather than around a direct service.
- Spanish labelling
- Consumer products carry national labelling requirements, settled before production.
- Currency and import administration
- Exchange and import administration have varied over time. Confirm the current position with a local broker before committing.

Questions buyers ask.
How long is the voyage?
Long, and it usually involves transhipment rather than a direct service. Treat schedule reliability as a planning assumption rather than a promise.
What does Argentina actually import from Indonesia?
Mostly what it cannot grow: coffee, cocoa, tropical spices and coconut products, plus industrial inputs.
Is the import administration complicated?
It has varied over time and it is a question for a local customs broker rather than for an exporter. Confirm the current position before committing to an order.
